Kenya Team Project
Did you know that all heat sources used to cook food, including gas, wood, and electric stoves, produce indoor air pollutants including carbon monoxide and formaldehyde? Cooking itself can also create dangerous air pollutants from heating certain ingredients like oil. In some places, access to clean fuels allow household kitchens to have less air pollutants in them. However, this isn't occurring all around the world as low income areas have higher death rates from indoor pollution as they have less access to clean fuels. Which is why the Kenya Team is currently working with the Nandi Community in Kenya in order to reduce air pollutants in kitchens.

Currently, the Kenya Team is working on designing a new stove, chimney, and fan compartment in order to reduce air pollutants. With their stove project, they are working to design a new stove with efficient and effective tunnels for the smoke, air pollutants, and heat to travel through the stove and up out of the chimney. With the chimney and fan projects, they are working on seeing where within the chimney the fan is most effective for pulling out air pollutants.
